Real Bride: McKenzie Walsh

We are absolutely thrilled for our bride McKenzie, and her husband Alex, who were married on May 17, 2014 at the Cathedral of St. Matthew in Washington D.C. The couple celebrated their reception at the Ritz Carlton D.C. with elegant touches coordinated by their planner, Blair Peterson of SOCO Events. McKenzie wore a Monique Lhuillier tulle skirt paired with an embroidered bolero for her ceremony before changing into a hand beaded corset for her reception, creating a truly custom look. McKenzie’s accessories included a custom veil with a hair comb by Siman Tu and earrings from Paris by Debra Moreland.

A unique clutch is definitely something your bridesmaids can use again. If a clutch is dressy but not too “evening” your girls can wear it for a night out or dress it up for another wedding. Depending on her style you could go for something more classic or funky but still special either way.

Most women love receiving a “little blue box” but what makes this necklace special is the message behind it. The olive leaf or olive branch has long been associated with friendship, what better way to show your girls how much they mean to you?

One Dress: Two Generations

I love this David Meister dress from Carine’s Bridal Atelier because it works so well for so many women. From a mother of the bride to a guest of the wedding or even a bride to be. The sheen of the fabric gives the dress an evening flair and is so unique in its texture. The cap sleeve and ruching at the side provides coverage and a flattering shape for more mature women while the gold hardware and cut out detail at the neckline puts a fun twist on the typical cocktail dress for a younger feel as well.

This dress should be paired with simple accessories since the fabric has so much life. I would wear a shoe with some metallic detail in a simple shape. For a more mature woman a lower heel and less shine tends to work better.

For a younger look a shoe with a simple shape still works but a higher heel makes more of a statement.
Earrings are all you need to top off this look. For a mother of the bride or mature guest I would go with a classic option like this glamourous stud.
For a bride or younger guest, something more linear and sassy is the best match.
