“In today’s world of selfies and smartphone cameras, Rita Vinieris reflected on what life was like before cameras. She came across the process of photograms, the process of creating a photographic image without the use of a camera, resulting in a negative shadow image. Thus for her spring Rivini collection, she combined that idea along with 3-D printing to create beautiful dresses done in textural patterns and 3-D embroideries. A hand-beaded gown was worked in nude tulle layered over chiffon and silk charmeuse, its intricate beadwork creating a 3-D effect. A variety of dresses were also produced via 3-D printers, including a strapless gown in organza, tulle and leather.
In a humorous twist — and a smart marketing move — the models lined up at the end of the show and took Instagram selfies and photos of the front row.” – Women’s Wear Daily
